I enjoy being alone with the world stretching out around of me. There is a sense of solitude and darkness in my photos, but it's a peaceful sense---I don't see it as a negative thing. Nature is not an inspirational postcard---it is indifferent and incredibly powerful. There is as much death and pain as life and joy. But I see a certain beauty in the completeness of it all. And I do tend to represent the beautiful parts because of what I seek. It's a struggle for happiness.
My photos are about being at peace with oneself. They are about the flow of nature that many of us rarely encounter. They are about organizing a view of nature into a frame. They are about hinting at the hugeness of what is out there. They are a combination of what I see and who I am.
